Painter

A student who has completed the Job Corps Painter program is equipped workplace as a valued employee from day one. Competence in academic graduation. In addition, Job Corps students learn employability and technological Painter training, a student must master skills in these categories:

GENERAL SAFETY
Recognize health and safety hazards in the painting trade; identify and use vacuums; demonstrate how to put on, remove and dispose of HEPA filters and

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE
Use proper painting terminology, materials and measurement tools; determine to be painted from a drawing/diagram; estimate materials and labor.

MATERIALS USED
Identify and name various paints, coatings, solvents, caulking materials, putty

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
Identify basic hand tools, power tools and other painting equipment; use measurement use ladders and scaffolding; set up and use swing stage and power washer; painting or sandblasting.

SURFACE PREPARATION
Prepare various surfaces for painting, varnishing and lacquering.

APPLICATION OF PAINTS AND COATINGS

    DRYWALL
    Prepare for and apply drywall.

    WALL COVERING
    Demonstrate use of wall covering tools; identify various types of wall covering surfaces for wall covering; size, prime, caulk and spackle; apply wall coverings.

    SPRAY PAINTING TECHNIQUES AND PROCEDURES
    Apply paints and coatings with conventional and airless spray equipment.
